Are Electric Vehicles The Future?

In recent years, there has been a huge push and growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs). EVs are unique in that they're one of the first real alternative-fueled options. While hybrids have been popular since the early 2000s, they didn't change much in terms of vehicle ownership and your day-to-day schedule. With the introduction of EVs, we're now seeing an increase in public charging stations and people installing electric car chargers in their homes. But, are electric vehicles the future? It's tough to say, but I'm willing to bet they will be.

Demand for EVs Are Increasing

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global demands for electric vehicles are increasing. In the 2020 Global EV Outlook by the IEA, there was a 40% year-over-year increase in electric car sales. With such a demand, it's no surprise that automakers are doing as much as they can to electrify their lineup.

My Thoughts On Electric Cars

Personally, I think electric cars are an interesting option and it's always exciting to see innovation. It's incredible to think that electric cars are pushing 300+ mile ranges on a single charge. In addition to long ranges, charging times are becoming increasingly quicker. However, I can't help but feel that EVs have no emotion. They seem to take away the driving experience and provide more of a focus on cramming in the latest technology. By design, EVs are also quiet and have no engine or exhaust noises. As a car enthusiast, I like feeling the transmission shifting and hearing engine and exhaust noises when I step on the gas pedal. I've always wondered what an EV would be like if artificial engine noises were introduced.

The Audi E-Tron GT is an EV from Audi that produces artificial sounds when you drive it. But even though there's fake sound coming from the E-Tron GT, it still doesn't sound like a traditional car. I'd be curious to see an EV in the future that introduces fake engine sounds and exhaust noises that mimic an internal combustion engine.

Have You Considered an EV?

For the foreseeable future, I plan on sticking to a traditional vehicle. However, I am considering adding a hybrid as a daily driver. I would also love to see hydrogen vehicles become more popular. I think the future of cars will hold plenty of alternative fuel options, in addition to EVs. What do you think of EVs and have you considered buying one? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!
