As a car enthusiast, I love going to local car meets, especially the well-organized ones. Being that I'm located near the Chicagoland area, I'm fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to a car meet every weekend during the season, if I choose to. However, I know that not everyone is so lucky to have such an active community.
CRU is looking to help you quickly find local car meets in your area and connect with other car enthusiasts without juggling different Facebook groups and events. CRU is the world-first social media GPS platform and its goal is to connect you to the automotive community local to your area.
How Does CRU Work?
CRU wants to make it as easy as possible for you to know the ins and outs of the community at all times but how does it aim to do that? Here's the gist of CRU:
Event Notifications
CRU will allow you to view the local events in your area. You'll be able to see who's attending, what car they drive, and share the event with your friends.
GPS Rally System
I love seeing other car enthusiasts on the road and most of the time, you see them, cruise with them for a bit, and they go your separate ways. However, CRU is aiming to connect you with other CRU drivers on the road by letting you view their profile.
There's nothing like cruising to a cars and coffee with some friends and CRU makes it even easier to follow the lead car, even if you lose them on your drive. Personally, this is one of my favorite features about CRU because it's so unique and I'm surprised we haven't seen anything else like it just yet.
Create a Profile
So, how do you know who's driving what on CRU? When you create your profile on the CRU app, you'll enter in the usual information like your vehicle's make, model, etc. However, you'll also be able to add any mods you may have done as well. Once it's been created, other CRU users will be able to see what you've done to your ride, whether you're at a meet or just cruising around.
My Review of CRU
I'm not sponsored or affiliated with CRU at all so this is my honest review. I think CRU is a unique idea and I hope it becomes a bigger hit within the community. However, the app is still very new and there aren't many users around me so I haven't been able to try out all of its features yet. CRU is also on an invite-only basis so you'll need to know an existing CRU user to be able to join.
I'd love to go on a cruise with some friends and meet new people in the community through CRU but it just hasn't grown enough for that yet.
